Books from the Ethiopian Bible: Beyond the King James

These books hid in plain sight. When the gospel reached the kingdom of Aksum in the fourth century, its scribes put the scriptures into Ge'ez, the ancient language of Ethiopia, and with them books the rest of the Christian world would later set aside or lose. As Ge'ez faded from use everywhere else, the books were simply out of reach, kept for more than fifteen centuries in a tongue the world had forgotten. The West found the Book of Enoch again only in 1773, when the Scottish traveler James Bruce came home from Ethiopia with three copies. Enoch and Jubilees still survive whole only in Ge'ez.

So the King James translators of 1611 never saw Enoch, Jubilees or Meqabyan, and the books they did know, they set apart in an Apocrypha that later printings dropped. These three volumes gather them in timeline order, with maps, timelines and about a thousand footnotes back to the Bible, the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants and the Pearl of Great Price. Commentary shows where each book's teachings agree with the restored gospel and where they differ, read as the Lord counseled: "whoso is enlightened by the Spirit shall obtain benefit therefrom" (D&C 91:5).

Resurrection follows the long war from the council in heaven to the Second Coming, and at its center are the days of Noah as the Book of Enoch tells them: the fallen Watchers and the knowledge they poured out on a world not ready for it.
