Every time the adversary thought he had won, he lost. From the council in heaven to Eden, the days of Noah, Calvary, the empty tomb and the Second Coming, this book traces the long war through the Bible, the Book of Mormon and latter-day revelation.

At its center are the days of Noah. The Book of Enoch tells of fallen Watchers who poured out knowledge on a world not ready for it: metals and weapons, adornment, sorcery and the reading of the stars, all given without wisdom, covenant or care for how they would be used. Every gift became a weapon, until "the earth was corrupt before God, and it was filled with violence" (Moses 8:28). The book weighs those ancient accounts against the scriptures, shows why the Lord sent the Flood, and how the same skills, given at His command, built an ark that saved.

Bringing it to life is Abilene, an imagined ministering angel who watches the war unfold across the millennia, from the council in heaven, to a bronze-smith's forge before the Flood, to the empty tomb and the coming of the King. His story is labeled as fiction.

About this book

In the council in heaven, in Eden, at Abel's altar, in the days of Noah, at Calvary and through the long night of apostasy, the adversary's victories turned to defeat, because he "knew not the mind of God."

It draws first on the four standard works, then on latter-day prophets and Latter-day Saint scholarship. Beside the scriptures stand ancient witnesses from the Ethiopian Bible: 1 Enoch, Jubilees, Tobit, the Wisdom of Solomon, Sirach and Baruch, each passage labeled and weighed against standard scripture.

A short narrative in each chapter, set apart and labeled as fiction, brings the scriptures to life.

From the back cover

“He is not here: for he is risen, as he said.”Matthew 28:6

Every time the adversary thought he had won, he lost. In the council in heaven, in Eden, at Abel's altar, in the days of Noah, at Calvary and through the long night of apostasy, his victories turned to defeat, because he “knew not the mind of God.”

The scriptures are the spine of this work: the Bible, the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants and the Pearl of Great Price. Beside them stand ancient witnesses from the Ethiopian Bible: 1 Enoch, Jubilees, Tobit, the Wisdom of Solomon, Sirach and Baruch, each passage labeled, presented and analyzed by the author against standard scripture.

A short narrative woven through each chapter seeks to bring the scriptures to life, from the first light before the world to the coming of the King.
